MEET THE TEAM

Meet our team of vets, nurses and client support at our new vets in Wetherby.

Helen Blackburn

Director and Lead Veterinary Surgeon

I love knowing my patients – it is important to me that both the pets and their owners feel like they can come to us with any problems, and that their time here is as pleasant as possible. We treat every animal as an individual, and the best way to achieve that is to give them time and listen to their needs.

Julian Norton

Director and Veterinary Surgeon

I’ve been practising as a vet for almost 30 years and Sandbeck represents one of the most exciting phases of my veterinary life. It’s a joy to be part of this amazing team and having the chance to be involved from its inception is a wonderful opportunity. For us all, Sandbeck is a once in a lifetime chance to make the perfect vet practice!

Mark Harrison

Director and Veterinary Surgeon

I have almost 30 years experience as a vet and jumped at the chance to work with friends and colleagues who I knew were as committed as I am to providing a wonderful, relaxed, friendly yet professional environment for our patients and their clients. I enjoy all aspects of our varied work but especially skin and dental cases. I am one of our cat advocates, responsible for promoting our official gold cat friendly status.

Ed Brownlee

Director and Veterinary Surgeon

I graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2019 and I have been working in a small animal practice in the North West since then. I am originally from Leeds so jumped at the opportunity to move closer to home. I love to spend as much time as possible outside enjoying the countryside with my rescue dog Bonnie.

Tracy Hemingway

Director and Practice Manager

My passion has always been animals and people so a role where I could interact with both was my dream job! When I was given the opportunity to work with friends at our own practice, alongside like-minded individuals who share my passion, providing an exceptional service and care for pets and their owners, I didn’t have to think twice.

Lucy Spencer

Registered Veterinary Nurse

I enjoy all aspects of being a nurse, especially working with the inpatients and seeing them improve on a daily basis. I have always had a love for animals and this job has allowed me to work with them everyday in a stress-free environment. At home I have two crazy cats called Bella and Willow and I am one of our cat advocates.

Kaitlyn Foster

Auxiliary Nurse

I graduated from Askham Bryan College in 2019 as an animal care assistant and I hope to fulfil my dream of becoming a veterinary nurse in the near future. I have always had a love for animals and have many myself including nine rabbits four of which are giants.

Sarah Jones

Veterinary Nursing Manager

I have been very lucky in doing my dream job for over 26 years and this year I have been a qualified Veterinary Nurse for 24 years. Animal welfare is my passion and I have special interest in Preventative Health Care (nurse clinics) and Small Animal Nutrition. I am also the proud owner of a lunatic lurcher and a total lover of all hounds, in particular Greyhounds.

Lucy Hollinworth

Trainee Nurse

I started at Sandbeck as a trainee Veterinary Nurse in January 2022. I have worked previously in both referral and first opinion practices and my main interests are surgical nursing and emergency and critical care. I am grateful for the opportunities Sandbeck has given me since starting and am excited to develop my career in veterinary nursing.

Beverly Turner

Receptionist

I have worked as a Veterinary Receptionist for the last 6 years. I love working with the team here at Sandbeck and I love building that bond with our clients and their pets. I love to walk my dog Norman and any other spare time I have is spent entertaining my grandchildren!

Jo Smith

RVN

I have been working in the veterinary world since 2010 and qualified as a registered veterinary nurse in 2016. I really enjoy the practical aspects of being a nurse such as taking and processing laboratory samples but enjoy chatting with owners and fussing their pets the most. I have always had a love for animals from a very young age and really enjoy being able to work with and care for them. It is very rewarding to be a part of nursing a poorly animal back to health. At home I have a lovely bouncy Spaniel called Bailey!

Franc Botet

Veterinary Surgeon

I graduated in Madrid back in 2012 and shortly after I moved to the UK to practice. I am currently working towards further qualifications in small animal medicine. Sighthounds are one of my passions. At home I have 2 crazy whippets, Gala and Nova.

Natalie Stevens

Auxillary Nurse

I started my time at Sandbeck doing admin work and stock control. I have progressed to being an ACA (animal care assistant), helping the vets and nurses with preparing patients for surgery and recovering them. I particularly enjoy lab work and looking at samples under the microscope. I have a love for all things exotic, and in the future I hope to complete my veterinary nurse training at Sandbeck.

Natalie McQuire

Veterinary Surgeon

I graduated from the Royal Veterinary college in 2006 and have been working as a vet since. I have additional qualifications in both diagnostic imaging and dermatology, and run dermatology referral clinics here at Sandbeck as an RCVS advanced practitioner. Its important to me that my clients feel like part of the healthcare team, understanding any issues their pet might be dealing with and involved with the decision making process. In my free time I enjoy staying active, either outdoors or at the gym, and also love spending time baking treats for the team.

Natalie Hofman

RVN

I qualified from the Royal Veterinary College in 2018 and completed a BSc in Vet Nursing in 2019. I have worked in first opinion practices previously and love the variety that the job brings- no two days are the same! I'm excited to start my new adventure at Sandbeck and look forward to meeting you and your pets! Outside of work I enjoy practicing and teaching Karate, watching American Football with my partner, and walking my whirlwind of a Whippet, Burrow."
